Daily Misconceptions is João Santos's intimate and trusted friend - an electronic musical project from Lisboa, Portugal. The soft tones and blissful moods are based on dreamy electronic sounds surrounded by a glitchy pop personality. Daily Misconceptions’s approach focuses on homemade electronic beats, glitchy pop like melodies, lo-fi singing and expanded cinema as a live canvas.
João Santos has been a part of the musical scene since 2002, the year of his debut EP - "True Project", released by Essay Collective. On 2004 the SPLIT EP "Puget Sound" is released on Bor Land, and in 2008, Mimi Records releases the acclaimed EP “If i hug your sweaters will they get their colour back?" with which he ventures as a live solo performer.
João Santos began his studies in music at Escola Profissional de Música de Almada, where he studied classical piano and new music technologies. Later on he joins Escola de Jazz Luiz Villas-Boas in Lisbon, where he studied harmony and jazz piano.
João finished his degree in Electronic Music and Musical Production in 2011 at Escola Superior de Artes Aplicadas (ESART) in Castelo Branco, Portugal. In 2014 he completes his master in Multimedia - Interactive Music and Sound Design at Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto (FEUP), Portugal.
At the same time, Daily Misconceptions releases tracks on several compilations and remixes names such as Blac Koyote, Charanga, Gobi Bear, LASERS, Mahogany, Mirror People, Norton and Stereoboy. On 2014 Daily Misconceptions joins the dutch duo - Fickle Ghost [NL] to compose and perform together live at WestWay Lab Festival 1.0. In 2015 Daily Misconceptions embraces ZigurArtists to release a SPLIT EP with O Manipulador - “LOP”, available on tape and digital download.
In the first day of spring of 2016, Daily Misconceptions releases his first LP - “Our Little Sequence of Dreams”, out on compact disc and digital download on ZigurArtists. In September 2016 “Insomnia Trap” is featured at FatCat Records demo site.
Daily Misconceptions also supported Viking Moses [US], Hannah Epperson [CA] and Sensible Soccers [PT] on tour.
Performing live he's joined by the visual artist Sara Esteves in order to adapt a concert into an audiovisual show. Daily Misconceptions thus becomes a duo, from which a symbiotic relationship is born. Live, the organic textures with undefined colorations become unpredictable landscapes.
